Our Readers Speak – S.J. Wohnrade

I am again greatly encouraged by Pastor Dan’s faithfulness to the Word of God. What a great sermon series the Lord has put on his heart for his flock! Oh the great insight, encouragement, and wisdom for TODAY we can gain from God’s Word. God’s timeless Truths are truly for all generations. Oh that we might not just Hear the Word of God, but do It.

In his last message on Obadiah, the Pastor mentioned the word prophet, and how we most times think of it in terms of someone who can tell the future. He explained that Biblically that is true, but that the word prophet can also mean someone who speaks or brings the Word of God to the people. Not just a foretelling of future events.

Now some sects of Christianity I feel have abused the term prophet for some of their leaders. But I think the Bible would support the view that the local pastor is a prophet in the latter sense mentioned above, in that he brings a Word from the Lord not just to, but also for, his flock. I believe that a Pastor who is faithful to the Lord and his Word, and who is seeking the mind and will of God through prayer, will receive from the Lord clear insight on what to preach to his flock.

So, are you a member of a congregation blessed with a Pastor that is faithful and has a heart for the Lord? If so Praise the Lord. But we need to come to the service with anticipation and possibly some trepidation, that we are about to hear the prophet God has uniquely sent and equipped for us personally! I believe that God will lead His faithful Pastors to address through His Word, exactly what His flock needs to hear. Not some formatted exposition of the Bible from an online sermon outline or an old textbook. But the living and active Word (the Rama) that God Himself gives to the Pastor through His Holy Spirit to deliver to his flock. Oh the Lord is so caring and personal.

Let us not come to hear simply the words of a man who is an ordained professional. But a man that God has set in our midst who will faithfully declare the message God has ordained for OUR congregation!

Blessed be the name of The Lord!

Temporary Unknowns (C) 2015 Greg Laurie

We see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. – (1 Cor. 13:12)

The Bible tells us that one day, in heaven, we will know as we are known (see 1 Cor. 13:12).

For the time being, I don’t have a complete knowledge of life beyond this life. The fact of the matter is, there’s so much about the person of God, His ways, and His dwelling place that I don’t know. But one day in a new body, I will see Him face-to-face, and all of my questions will be answered.

The apostle Paul had a remarkable experience in which he died and then was revived (see Acts 14:19-20). This wasn’t a near-death experience; Paul literally died. But he didn’t write a book about it or go on the talk show circuit. He basically said, “I was caught up into the third heaven and heard things that I can’t even describe to you, but it was paradise” (see 2 Cor. 12:2). That’s all he would say.

It does appear, however, that we will recognize one another in heaven. After all, when Moses and Elijah met with Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration, the disciples recognized them immediately. So you might ask, “How will I know you if I’m looking for you?” Well, look for the guy with the full head of brand-new hair. That will be me.

Yes, someday very soon we will be with the Lord. And though we don’t know a great deal about heaven now, we can be sure its reality will exceed our wildest dreams. We will see the Lord, and we will see one another. And all of the mysteries will be solved.

The Merry Heart – New Year’s Eve

A New Year’s resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other.

My New Year’s resolution is 1080p.

My New Year’s resolution is to stop hanging out with people who ask me about my New Year’s resolutions.

I have only one resolution: to rediscover the difference between wants and needs. May I have all I need and want all I have. Happy New Year!

This New Year’s I resolve to be less awesome since that is really the only thing I do in excess.

I’ll remember 2014 like it was yesterday.

Dear Luck, can we be friends in 2015, please?

May all your troubles last as long as your New Year’s resolutions.

I wanna kiss you on December 31st from 11:59 pm to 12:01 am, so I can have an amazing ending to 2014 and a beautiful beginning into 2015.

Every year I make a resolution to change myself – this year I’m making a resolution to be myself!

I’m planning on finding new and interesting things to hate about my job in 2015.

My New Year’s resolution is to break my New Year’s Resolutions – that way I succeed at something!

New Year’s is just a holiday created by calendar companies who don’t want you reusing last year’s calendar.

I’m actually feeling pretty okay about not accomplishing anything this year.

My 2015 resolution is for everyone else to gain the 50 pounds I refuse to lose.

Tonight the mayor is dropping the ball in New York while Congress is dropping the ball in Washington.

A Hope-Filled Heart

You and I live in a trashy world. Unwanted garbage comes our way on a regular basis. Haven’t you been handed a trash sack of mishaps and heartaches? Sure you have. May I ask, what are you going to do with it? You could hide it. Pretend it isn’t there. But sooner or later it will start to stink. So what will you do?

If you follow the example of Christ, you’ll learn to see tough times differently. God wants you to have a hope-filled heart…just like Jesus. Wouldn’t you want that? Jesus saw his Father’s presence in the problem. Sure, Max, but Jesus was God. I can’t see the way he saw. Not yet, maybe. But don’t underestimate God’s power. He can change the way you look at life.
