To instruct and exhort God’s people to shun folly and embrace wisdom
What are its main themes?
- The nature of wisdom, and the blessing found in wise living
- The nature of folly, and the devastating consequences of foolish living
What is a proverb?
A short, pithy statement that expresses a practical truth
What is wisdom?
The ability to discern or judge what is true, right or lasting
Understanding the Text: The Purpose of the Proverbs (Pr 1:1-6)

- Acquire a disciplined life (Pr 1:3)
