What is wisdom?
- The ability to discern or judge what is true, right, good or lasting
What is folly?
- The inability to discern or judge what is true, right, good or lasting…. and, choosing to do that which is immoral and destructive
Fear of the LORD…
- A profound awe and respect for the nature and power of God… and a sobering acknowledgment that God’s holiness, judgment and discipline are a consuming fire
- “The Fear of the LORD is the beginning of Wisdom…”
- “Denial or disregard of the LORD is the beginning of Folly…”
Characteristics of Folly…
- Takes pleasure in evil conduct
- Is self-deceived
- Spurns discipline
- Will not repent or make amends
- Anger issues
- Empty, destructive speech
- Unreliable
- Wasteful
- Values own opinion over understanding
- Dangerous
- Difficult to be around
- Harms others
Curses of Folly…
- Punishment
- Ruin
- Death
