While waiting at the veterinarian’s office, I overheard two women chatting about their dogs.
“What’s your dog’s name?” asked the first woman.
“Well, we used to call her Pork Chop,” answered the second lady. “But after the vet bills we’ve had for her, we now call her Filet Mignon.”

A pastor was speaking to a group of second graders about the resurrection of Jesus when one student asked, “What did Jesus say right after He came out of the grave?”
The pastor explained that the Gospels do not tell us what He said.
The hand of one little girl shot up. “I know what He said. He said, ‘Tah-dah!’”

Welcome into your arms the victims of violence and terrorism.
Comfort their families and all who grieve for them.
Help us in our fear and uncertainty,
And bless us with the knowledge that we are secure in your love.
Strengthen all those who work for peace,

Many people stop short of their destiny. They settle for someone else’s story. Grandpa was a butcher, Dad was a butcher, so I guess I’ll be a butcher. Everyone I know is in farming, so I guess I’m supposed to farm. Consequently, they risk leading dull, joyless, and fruitless lives. They never sing the song God wrote for their voices. They never cross a finish line with heavenward-stretched arms and declare, I was made to do this! They fit in, settle in, and blend in. But they never find their call.
Don’t make the same mistake. Ephesians 2:10 says: “It is God himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago planned that we should spend these lives in helping others.” Your existence is not accidental. Your skills are not incidental. God shaped each person in turn!

A person was visiting Washington, DC, for the first time. Unable to
locate the Capitol, the person asked a police officer for directions,
“Excuse me,
officer, how do I get to the Capitol building?”
The officer replied, “Wait here at this bus stop for the number 54 bus. It’ll take you right there.”
Three hours later, the police officer returned to the same area and,
sure enough, the person was still waiting at the same bus stop.
The officer got out of his car and said, “Excuse me, but to get to the
Capitol building, I said to wait here for the number 54 bus, and that
was three
hours ago! Why are you still waiting?”
The person replied, “Don’t worry, officer, it won’t be long now. The 45th bus just went by!”
