In Summary…
- God is never the source of temptation… He gives life, not death.
- Temptation arises from within… our desires must be surrendered to God.
- Sin grows if left unchecked… a call to cut it off early.
- God gives only good gifts… culminating in new birth through the gospel.
- Believers are the firstfruits… a sign of God’s greater redemptive plan.
God’s Good and Perfect Gifts
Temptation promises pleasure but delivers death… but God’s gifts bring life, peace, and joy that last forever.
Applying the Text
- Do not feed sinful desires.
- Reject the lies of sinful desires.
- Deal quickly with sin.
- Trust and rejoice in God for His gifts.
