Please keep our missionaries in your prayers. Also lets pray for all the missionaries out in this world, especially those in the war torn countries, and hostile countries.

They ask for prayers that the Lord will bless financially challenged supporters, and provide new donors for them. May the Lord also encourage churches who are considering starting an Awana program. They are praying for Awana leaders in Illinois will pray and grow there ministry by at least 10 to 20 more kids. They have praise for their granddaughter’s safety and successful opportunities she had on her mission trip to England in July.

One day an atheist said to God, “If you were good, you’d heal amputees.” So God healed some amputees.

Then the atheist said, “If you were fair, you’d heal all of the amputees, not just some of them.” So God healed all of the amputees.

Then the atheist said, “If you were all-powerful, you wouldn’t let people lose their limbs in the first place.” Then God said, “If I did that, some of you would throw yourselves to the sharks just for fun.”

The next day the atheist said to God, “If you really existed, you’d raise the dead.” So God raised some dead people back to life.

Then the atheist said, “If you were fair, you’d raise all of the dead, not just some of them.”

Then God said, “I’ve already got that down on my calendar.”

They ask us to join them in prayer with 2 Chronicles 7:14 in mind. Answer Gods call to stop talking about it, and start praying for our nation. Please pray for the Leatherwoods as they seek Gods directions to share the gospel in an oral form to every tribe, tongue and nation in the world.

Paul said in II Corinthians 4:16-18, “We do not lose heart…for our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.” Hear what Paul called “light and momentary”—not what I’d have called them, and I think you’ll agree. Imprisoned. Beaten. Stoned. Shipwrecked three times. In constant danger. Hungry and thirsty. Light and momentary troubles? How could Paul describe endless trials with that phrase? He tells us. He could see “an eternal glory that far out-weighs them all.”

And you–you want to go on, but some days the road seems so long. Let me encourage you with this: God never said the journey would be easy, but he did say that the arrival would be worth it!

Greg reports:

I just found out today that tomorrow we start school.

No! Well, yes, that’s true. School starts tomorrow.

What I mean to say is that I found out today that I teach the seniors Apologetics for both semesters now, not just semester one. Did I say that school starts tomorrow?

The content does not change but the course includes some life application issues (changing a flat tire, credit cards, reconciling a checking account, time value of money and mortgages, etc) So I need to factor in these one-day seminars about once a month. Of course, I can now address the 6 world views and 10 disciplines that we will examine in a much more rational and calmer manner. We will be using Understanding the Times by David Noebel. I hope you are as excited to pray about this as I am to teach it.

Now, gotta get that syllabus done …

A little old man was escorted into the witness box. After he was sworn in, the lawyer asked him to explain what happened.

After a lengthy discussion of the events leading up to the incident, he finally got around to the meat of the case: “…and then she hit me with a maple leaf.”

“Surely that couldn’t have caused you any serious injury?” said the lawyer.

“Are you kidding?” exclaimed the old man. “It was the leaf from the center of our dining room table.”

Greg says,

“We had our first day together as teachers, yesterday (Monday, 08-04). It was a kind of "retreat” time and I was able to speak to several teachers about my eleventh grade Bible class. There are only 5 girls in a class of 19. That hasn’t been a problem for this class. There are only 3 native-born, English-speaking students in this class. While that is unusual even for our school it is not a problem. We need to lift this particular class up in prayer that they might come to see spiritual realities and where they stand in eternity. Two of the boys just committed their lives to Christ less than a year ago. One teacher-mom told me, today, that her daughter is on fire for the Lord. Pray that this “pilot” light becomes a flame and this class does more than come to school to learn English and get good grades so they can go to college in the States. Pray that this class not only learns a biblical worldview but lives it.

Praise: Gail finished her graduate level class on career counseling. While she audited the class and probably won’t get a grade she learned some valuable things will make her more effective with our high school students. She is praying that the professor gives her some feedback on her final project. Also, she is confident that she has 2 students for Yearbook, but needs 4 or 5 experienced students and 6 or 7 inexperienced students for a quality book.

Prayer: Greg found out, yesterday (Friday, 08-08) about 2:00 PM, that he won’t be teaching Bible 11 but Bible 12. The difficult part is only having 4 or 5 days to prepare a senior level Apologetics (defense of the faith) class. The good part is that this was brought about by a teacher who only wanted to swap for this semester. I’m looking forward to jumping into the topic AND what I prepared over the summer will be ready for the juniors in semester 2.

Pastor Vijay asks for prayers for a pastor friend who needs finances for his church.  Also would like prayers for finances to restart construction on the Grace Orphan Hone. Many people including pastor Vijay need prayers for their health.

We just found out that on July 25th Alton & Ebba Cothron celebrated sixty two years of marriage. Congratulations, and God bless!

Alton and Ebba have been lending an ear and encouragement to two different families who are going through rough times. They have enjoyed learning of the different Christian tribal people in Brazil being trained as preachers, language translators and consultants. This is accelerating the progress of evangelizing and establishing churches. They appreciate our prayers and support.
