THE GOSPEL OF MARK

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is a miracle-working man of action. He is the Son of Man and the Servant of the Lord who came not to be served, but to serve and give His life as a ransom for many. The gospel of Mark calls sinners to saving faith in Jesus, and encourages the disciple of Jesus to follow the example of Jesus.

A Brief Introduction to Mark

Author: John Mark

Date: About AD 60

Recipients: Roman Gentile Christians

Purpose: Mark’s purpose was to give a written record of the verbal testimony of the Apostle Peter regarding the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ, and to encourage followers of Jesus to stand firm in a hostile environment. Characteristics: Mark is a gospel of action in which Jesus, the Servant of the Lord, has come to serve and give His life as a ransom for many.
